A Room Full of Rainbows

A Room Full of Rainbows

Rainbows! On a sunny day, my bedroom is filled with them. They may not be in arches, like the ones we see in the sky, but the bright colors are there, a part of a rainbow on my wall, a smidgen on the floor, a little dab on the ceiling. The room is warm, sunny, bright and filled with color.

Many years ago, Sara gave me a simple glass prism. It is actually the tail of a dragonfly. It’s called a sun catcher. I hung it in my window and that is where it has stayed. It’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten because it is a gift of rainbows.

The prism is there on cloudy days too but you’d never guess it because the sun isn’t shining through the window. The sun is still in the sky somewhere, the dragonfly is still hanging in the window, but, alas, no lovely rainbows!

Some times I may feel like a cloudy day. I am worried, or, for one reason or another, I hurt. It seems as if the sun will never shine again and God has forgotten me and my problems. All around is gloom and dreariness. I need the light. I miss the rainbows!

This is when a gentle word from a friend, a verse of Scripture, an act of kindness from a stranger reminds me that God loves me. He was there all the time, although I couldn’t see Him. The clouds part and suddenly, the sun shines. There, beaming through the prism of hope is my beautiful gift of rainbows.

Lovely blog today. If everything was perfect every day, we might forget to lean on God.

  2. I agree with everything Sharon said/wrote! : )

I’ll think of this when I see rainbows from my stain glass cross in the window! : )
