Some Place to Go, Something to Do

Some Place to Go, Something to Do

I’ve never seen this before! A group of four doves ambles slowly across the driveway. Do they have some place to go? Do they have a chore in mind? Are they looking for something? I hope they know there are cats in the neighborhood and are watchful.

And, I? Do I have some place to go this morning or something to do? My only chore is to continue cleaning out the garage. I made a little progress yesterday but sometimes it is overwhelming. I’ve kept so many things that are important only to me at one time, long ago. They no longer have any value so they sit and gather dust and wait for an uncertain future. No place to go but to the resale shop or the junk yard.

Early fall is a finishing up time of year, isn’t it? Summer’s over with its warm weather activities. Winter is coming, just around the corner. Time to put away, evaluate, discard.

Life has its seasons just as the year has. There’s a time for everything and when that time had ended, another is coming on. There’s a time to amble thoughtfully, just as the doves were doing. There’s a time to hurry and get things done. Right now, I’m in the ambling stage, dreading getting back into the garage and making those decisions of what to keep and what to throw away. Nemo is no help at all. Whatever I decide is fine with him. So, with that thought in mind, I pour another cup of coffee, consider the day and the garage and how nice it will look when it’s finished, tucked away, and ready for another season.
