A Cup of Conversation on a Cozy Morning

A Cup of Conversation on a Cozy Morning

Yesterday, my son and I shared a good conversation over a couple of cups of Starbucks. It was the highlight of my day. If I were a doctor, along with each prescription for medicine, I’d prescribed a quiet talk with a trusted friend. A cozy conversation works wonders.

Our ears are bombarded with sound. We have television, radios, computers, iPhones, news commentators, politicians, the list goes on. But, how much of this is just noise or has to be filtered and sifted through to get to the important stuff? It is my belief that a good, sit-down talk, face to face, accomplishes so much more and has a whole lot more positive effects.

Matt and I didn’t discuss anything in particular and we didn’t solve any of the world’s ills. We mentioned only a few in passing. But, it was a beautiful fall day. A clear, blue sky arched overhead, leaves were turning colors and falling, the dining room was snug and warm, and the coffee was delicious. Besides, that, I was with this most special, neat person known as my son. So, how it have been any better?

Next time an anniversary or a birthday rolls around, or a friend is ill, or you feel a bit lonely, or are in need of a pick-me-up, try a little one on one conversation. The oldest form of communication is often the best. It doesn’t cost a thing but it is priceless. The delicious cup of hot coffee was simply a bonus.
